It seems I have been too busy for that past couple of years designing, building, and selling Rods. Overlooking the idea of revising the book I wrote a few years back, called Wishing you were Fishing!

I’m happy to announce that after several weeks, I have finished the revisions and managed an additional 100 new pages of Fishing information, along with over two dozen High Definition Digital Colour Photos and I have increased the number of Freshwater Fish Recipes to eight from five!

Personally I believe that, what closed most of the sales was due to the simplicity of the fish recipes. The first hundred books came with bottle of White wine that had the Book Cover on the bottle! A little promotional trick I thought might generate an increase in sales!

Not a bad deal for $20!

I have received all kinds of compliments from Angler’s who have caught trophy Fish using some of the presentations I have reviled!

Hell! I even had people coming up to me and asked me if I was the guy who wrote the Fishing Book they had bought!

As many Professional Angler’s know, one of the most challenging task required of us is, being able to marry a Quality Fishing Reel with a High End “Techniques Specific” Performance Fishing Rod!

This is in reference to Rod Company’s who produce Tournament level Rods but No Reels ! However they leave matching Brand Name Reel choices to the consumer! Sometimes it’s achieved easily, however in many cases, is becomes a lasting disappointment!

The Master Rod Designer, Professional Bass Angler & Fishing Guide, Daniel Sturges is offering several of his personal prefences!

 Knowledge of the product is half the battle!

Are you aware of the Retrieve Ratios, Line Capacity, the number of ball bearings, the actual scale weight of the reel of choice, the length or action of the rod and Fishing line or Rod that would be best suited for the presentation? Braided, Flurocarbon, Monofilament or Copolymer as well as the pound test that should give you optimum casting distance and the best accuracy!

If you are somewhat confused, then here are  some pointers.

Flippin/Pitchin:

It is really quite amazing that I see even the Televison Show

Hosts misusing their fishing rods!

Some of them don’t hold their rods properly, they don’t cast correctly or set their hooks effectively! I’s rather disgusting to watch! When I was the guest host on the Ultimate Fishing Show no one ever approached me to point out my flaws! That tells me I was doing something Right!

On a Spinning Rod you will have to determine the rod and reel are in balance!

With Casting it’s a matter of less weight overall on this combo! Both of these efforts will effectively reduce Rod Fatigue!

CASTING: To properly cast any fishing rod, you must “Utilize the Tip Action to optimize on your casting distances and accuracy.

To do this, you must be able to hit your target, simply by aiming the tip and flicking your wrist, timing the release at 1:00!

Proper hand position when attempting to cast a Spinning Rod is called, the two finger split! Split your middle finger and your ring finger by placing the reel foot between your fingers, then close your hand over the reel seat around the rod handle.

When casting, don’t involve the bottom end of the rod handle and cast with your shoulder and your arms, you will create the biggest birds nest you’ll ever see.

Try using the tip action of the rod after you set the casting drag on your reel! Aim and gently toss your bait to your target! No Backlash here!

Now to set your hook, it takes timing and the correct direction of the hook set and  rod sweep! The Key is, confirming the strike and knowing where the fish is! To implement the Hook Set be sure to take up as much slack line as possible! Dropping your rod tip very close to the water surface and then sweep straight upwards this automatically engages  the parabolic’s in the backbone and without giving any slack back to the fish, maintain constant pressure while retrieving your fish!

Knowing these points will help you improve as an angler, in less time then imaginable!
