The owner and President of BACKWOODS Premium Rods Canada is a seasoned angler with over fifty years of Multi-species fishing experience. Many as a sport fisherman and a fishing Consultant with over twenty years as a Professional Fishing Guide throughout Central Ontario, twelve years as a Tournament Bass Pro, winning First Place at his first Bass Tournament, a published Author of a Fishing Methods Guide Book called “Wishing we were Fishing!” His book is “sold out” of all 2300 copies and will be revised to a CD soon.
An invited guest host on two popular Fishing Shows, he is currently the only known Master Rod Designer in Canada with over one hundred-twenty Custom Rod Designs to his credit, with sixteen “New” designs for this coming year in which, Nothing Can Compare!
As a passionate Angler, Sturges felt that after the many years of fantastic fishing it was time to put something back into the sport. That is how BACKWOODS evolved. Since 1996 we have been adding new and improved rod designs exceeding angler’s expectations by producing World Class Freshwater Fishing Rods, Beyond Compare! We have five Rod Series in our collection of which three are endorsed by Professional Canadian Anglers.
