As a Professional Angling Specialist and Fishing Guide for

over Twenty-Five (25) Years I wouldn’t be off the mark in

telling a lot of you that you could somehow benefit from

my expertise!

We all generally use a Specialized Rods for Specific Species fishing!

Although it seems when it comes to Musky Fishing we tend to think we can by-pass the rule by using Bass fishing equipment. One of the best ways to destroy your arsenal of Bass Combos!

BACKWOODS Premium Rods offers two High Performance Signature Series Musky Rods that are unmatched in quality features!

The Warlock Musky Styx and the ” New” Thunder Bolt Musky Styx are the first choice of a majority of the members from Muskies Canada and The Ottawa Valley Muskie Club!

Our complete Collection is endorsed by Bill Craig “Mister Muskie” the current holder of the World Record for the largest, Live Release Musky! Look under Catch of the Day!

Our Rainshadow RX8-TCX High Modulus Graphite blended with Carbon Fiber Scrim Performance Rod blanks are handcrafted by Top Notch Master Rod Builders and Professionally designed by our in house Master Rod Designer.

Several of our mandatory features include ALPS Low Carbon Steel “Flanged Guides” the entire length of each rod.  ALPS CNC-Marine Aluminum Single or Dual Trigger Reel Seats, a hinged leader keeper and over-sized cork Fore Grip (5″) and Rear Grips (14″) “C” sized winding thread and an all rubber Bulb butt cap! Limited Lifetime Manufacturer’s Warranty!

Most of our competitors Rods are priced in the same range, but don’t offer any of the upgrades or the Marine Aluminum Trigger Reel Seats! As seen in the photos below!

The “KEY” to matching the best reel for chasing Musky is simple!

A High Profile Reel, (Round) with a lever handle will work nicely!

Experience the Excitement of Ultra-Lite Fishing?

BACKWOODS Whisper Creek Ultra-Lite Fishing Rods

Several of my most memorable trophy sized fish have been caught in the Backwoods on a BACKWOODS Ultra-Lite Rod!

So what’s the challenge?

Ultra-lite Rods require a less aggressive approach to fishing and the realization of the variations in presentation! Key Word to consider is ” Down Size “!

The words that best describes the size of Ultra-Lite baits is, Micro Size!

Primarily your fish have a much smaller mouth so, a smaller hook will increase your percentages of consistent hook ups!

Some of the species of “course fish” are, Perch, Crappie, Pumpkinseed and Rockbass!

Specifically these fish are why these Ultra-Lites have been designed!

However, they can be used confidently on Brook Trout, Bass and Walleye, provided you are a progressing angler!

I always used an Ultra-Lite Rod to teach my boys how to fish. Later in life you will appreciate the fact that their only transition will be from a Spinning Combo to a Casting Combo! Too many of us started out fishing with a Spincast Combo!

Later in life you may never be able adjust properly to even a Spinning  Rod!

If you get excited when fishing bigger fish with standard equipment then you will get a super rush catching Bass, Walleye and Brook Trout on an Ultra-Lite!

May I suggest using one of my favorite lures (Double Loon in-line Spinners) in their smallest two sizes, Number One and a number two with feather dressed treble hooks? I have managed to catch several Brookies over 5 #’s on these!

Another bait that simply slays them is a 1/32 white Micro Jighead dressed with a Thin Fin black and silver minnow imitation! Micro-Tubes are a very good choice especially the Chartruese, white and red 1/32-1/8 ounce.

No matter if you are Fishing from a dock, a shaded shore or a from a canoe, Ultra-Lite fishing will bring you endless excitement!

A word of Caution: Be Gentle with them!

Wishing we were Fishing a Whisper Creek Ultra-Lite!
