Seasons Openers

A majority of my fishing friends consider me a Fishing Specialist. To describe myself, I would go with an Obsessed Angler or more simply, a Multi-Species Specialist.
A devoted Ardent Angler for over five decades, a Tournament Professional Angler for over a decade, being a Professional Fishing Guide for over two decades. I’m even able to believe myself when I am talking fishing!
Now that I am retired from my career job, I will be focusing on writing fishing articles, blogging and I’m starting another book called Wishing We Were Fishing! Fantastic Fish Recipes!
Further to this I will remain as President of BACKWOODS Premium Rods, Canada’s only Rod Producer that has been operating since 1996. We are offering over 130 different World Class Fishing Rods which are Beyond Compare! We have the highest performing Hybrid Rod Blanks available in North America called Rainshadows!
Taking regular breaks to begin each season opener, starting with the Trout opener which traditionally starts May first. However if you refer to your Fishing Regulations you will discover this season starts as soon as we can gain access to the shoreline on the Nottawasaga River.
Most Stream-fishing enthusiasts are consistently focusing on using longer BACKWOODS G-Force Float Rods ranging from 11’6” to 13 feet long, although one of my favorite producing rods is the BACKWOODS Silver-Flex Stream Spinning Rods which was designed to deliver accurate casts using In-Line Spinners, Spoons and the Bottom Bouncing technique while perusing Steelhead and Salmon.
Many of us like to frequent the many crystal clear rivers and streams near and around Algonquin Park for Brook Trout are Speckled Trout which are the same fish. A change of gear is eminent as we will have to downsize our tackle and gear. One of the most exciting fishing rods for Brookies is the BACKWOODS Whisper Creek Ultra-Lite 5’6” two piece rod.
In the same areas you can wait a few weeks for Walleye Season to open in specific areas. Pickerel and Walleye are the same fish for those who are uncertain.
Walleye are not all that difficult to catch if you have knowledge of their habitat and feeding patterns. My go to rods for Walleye are the BACKWOODS Lunar FX Spinning Signature Series that we have added to this year! I’m very excited to introduce the BACKWOODS Solar Eclipse and the Lunar Eclipse Rods that are built using both the Hybrid RX7 HMG and TCX Hybrid Rod Blanks, sporting our new ALPS CNC anodized Marine Aluminum Reel Seats! Incredible!
About a month later, is when the big boats get dropped in the waters as Bass Season begins! Personally one might think that there are as many people who fish for Bass as all other species. My experience is that, there are as many people who fish Bass as who fish for Walleye, Trout and Musky.
The fact is that there are more Technique Specific Rods in both Spinning and Casting that simply add up to more sales. I have been working with a great life-long friend Gerry Pigeon who assisted me in endorsing and developing over 36 different Technique Specific Tournament Performance Bass Rods called The BACKWOODS BassMaster’s Signature Series Rods. It is common knowledge that BACKWOODS have the Top designs in North America!
During the same time in June we are able to start the hunt for the Freshwater Monsters! Our Musky Specialist Bill Craig firmly believes that he will break his current World Record Live Release Musky using his newest endorsement the BACKWOODS Thunder Bolt CNC TCX Hybrid Musky Styx. These new Musky Rods far exceed the expectations of enthusiastic Musky Anglers.
Nothing Can Compare!
